About Us

CASA-HC has just founded on Feb 20th 2024. This is an important step for building an age friendly community.  As  a section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for the seniors, we have many people to join our network, and  more than 150 of our members have registered at Howard County 50+ centers

Chinese American retirees have been isolated for a long time due to the language and cultural barriers. The CDC noted in recent studies that “social isolation was associated with a roughly 50% increased risk of dementia.”  Working closely with county government on Age-Friendly Howard County initiatives, we feel confident to make changes,  in order to improve our health and wellbeing, and to build an age-friendly community.

Offering a variety of social and leisure programs in the following: information exchange and referral, such as ESOL and computer classes; exercise programs such as Tai Chi, Line Dance, Chinese Folk Dance, Ball Room Dance, Ping Pong, Puke, Weiqi, Mahjong; and field trips, both local and abroad, etc., , to help them overcome the language and culture barriers, to promote socialization and to enhance health and wellbeing.

We have registered in Maryland as a nonprofit, non political, non religious organization. All 50+ Chinese Americans in Howard County are welcome to join us. Here is the application form (link to the form). There is no membership fee. The executive Board is the management team. All the Board members work for the association without pay.

We encourage our members to register at Howard County 50+ Senior Centers.

Please join us to participate in our social activities, in order to improve our health and wellbeing, and to realize our retirement dreams!
